Professor Alfredo Soldati, Rector of CISM and Professor of Fluid Mechanics at the University of Udine and Technische Universität Wien, has been awarded the 2026 ASME Fluids Engineering Award, one of the most prestigious international honours in the field of fluid dynamics, conferred by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The official award ceremony will take place in Seattle during the international congress marking the 100th anniversary of the ASME Fluids Engineering Division, scheduled for 26–29 July 2026. During the same congress, Professor Soldati will also deliver a plenary lecture before the international scientific community in the field.

Established in 1968 by the Fluids Engineering Division and made an official ASME-wide award in 1978, the ASME Fluids Engineering Award is presented to scholars who, over the course of their careers, have made particularly significant contributions to the engineering profession, distinguishing themselves in research, professional activity, and teaching in the field of fluid dynamics.

“Receiving this award is a great honour for me,” says Alfredo Soldati, “because it comes from an international scientific community to which I feel deeply connected and which has played an important role in my research career. I also regard it as recognition of the work carried out over the years with many colleagues, collaborators, and students, as well as of the contribution that the University of Udine has made, and continues to make, to the development of research in the field of fluid dynamics and multiphase flows.”
