ResiliEnhance Platform Meeting 2026
On 9–10 November 2026, Udine will host the annual meeting of the ResiliEnhance Platform, focused on “Working Sessions for Bridging Science, Policy and Action for Enhancing Resilience in the Context of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action”.
The Platform, coordinated by the UNESCO Chair on Intersectoral Safety for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience at the University of Udine together with the Central European Initiative (CEI) and CISM, is an international, interdisciplinary initiative. For more than four years, it has been working to enhance territorial resilience to disasters through a multi-hazard, systemic approach. The 2026 edition is developed in collaboration with UNDRR and UNESCO, which contribute to the scientific discussion.
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Action (CA) should be integrated, yet in practice they are still very often addressed separately. In addition, much existing guidance stops at what “should be done”. Implementers may therefore face difficulties related to coordination, capacities and access to risk information. Practical tools are therefore needed to bridge strategy and execution.
The one-and-a-half-day event addresses this challenge in two steps:
- Session 1 – Integration: a World Café to identify the specificities and commonalities of DRR and CA. The aim is to build a shared Integration Map.
- Session 2 – Pass to action: a second World Café mapping the Needs and Warnings of the pass-to-action process in a Bridging Chart. The results are read through two perspectives: that of those who define strategies and that of those called to act.
The sessions will be introduced by an overview of the approaches promoted by UN agencies and of the Intersectoral Safety Approach, the methodological framework underpinning the work. Outputs from the tables will be synthesised in plenary and translated into recommendations.
The meeting brings together UNESCO Chairs, Category II Centres, international organisations, and civil protection and research institutions from several countries of the Central European Initiative area.
